It's a blog! What else do you do with a blog, but ramble on about things that you might think are witty and insightful, but the rest of the world find totally mundane!

Lyrics

First off, go the Tigers! - noice win boys, not great, but good enough for the first round!

Back to business.

I am, at heart, a musician. I'm pretty sure (no ego here) that I can hold my own on guitar and bass, but when it comes to song writing, I have a major problem with lyrics. Not the melody, though I know the Monkey-boy can find a much better melody than me, but with the actual words. WTF is that? It's not like I don't have a damn good command of the English language, it's just that I agonise over the words that I use in a song. Sometimes it takes the sixth or seventh re-write of the words before I'm prepared to show it to anyone. Is that because I'm over conscious of the sub-text of the words, or is it because I'm afraid to show what I am really feeling. The little voice inside me that shows, I'm not really Mr Cool, but I'm just as fucked up and lost and scared as everyone else? That, as much as I try to be, I'm not really in control of where I'm going, it's just happening and I'm along for the ride? Maybe I just try to be too clever to cover for my own frailties and failures? Maybe I just don't want to sound like a big whiney romantic tosser?

I think it's all about letting go, and acknowledging that somethings can come back and hurt you. But if they are what you feel, you should have no recriminations for that.

Dang, I'm being all philosophical and shit.

Or is this introspective, I can never tell when I 'm drunk.

Time to fall over,
J.

Meow

Meow! I quite like an impromptu thirsty Thursday. It is Thursday isn't it? Mr Ford, DJ-MJRJ, the Faerie Princess and myself, just settling in with a few quiet ones. On the the vodka tonight, ran out of scotch on Tuesday. Dang it! I feel like a little collar-turned-up elitist wanker, drinking vodka and cranberry. Now if I had a couple of other important ingredients I could mix up some wake-up-calls! Ooo, I have Irish whiskey and DJMJRJ got us some more coffee beans! Hell yeah!
Bye bye now I'm going to fire up my little caffine dispensing friend!

I am my evil twin,
J.

A few of my favourite things...

Bugger your brown paper packages and your whiskers on kittens. There is nothing like a damn good curry (if I do say so myself, I mean, I did cook the bloody thing) and beer. It's one of those simple things in life, innit, geezer? It's not that I don't appreciate things like venison and a good bottle of wine. But, hey, a noice pungent curry and a couple o' beers goes down a right treat, 'eh? Back to the venison (I'm the reason Bambi is an orphan!), I have a theory that cute animals taste best. Rabbit, lamb, deer, cows. Actually it's not a theory, it's just something I like to say to get a rise out of the cutist enviromentalists. Cutist enviromentalists? They are people who care about the welfare of animals based upon their cute factor - dolphins, pandas, koalas, etc. You know those type of cute (and sometimes cuddly) animals. I mean no one gives two hoots about that top of the food chain, nasty bastard they call the shark? Those poor bastards get culled for their fins at an alarming rate, but it's ok, because they are not cute. Just because, every now and then, one of them decides to take a wee bite out of a homosapien or two? Would we think the bilby so cute if it had a penchant for human flesh? Or if Skippy had opposible thumbs and learnt to use a shotgun? "What's that Skip? Give you all my money or you'll blow my fucking head off?" Now that would have been a TV show! Now how did I get from curry to homocidal kangaroos? Mmm kangaroo vindaloo...with a baby fur seal salad.

Is this dolphin "tuna safe"?

Sunday, lazy Sunday

After Saturday's exploits and today's weather - there was only one way for this day to be handled. The lazy way. Things achieved today - nil.
And, in keepng with today's theme, that's all I have to post.

Ha!

Olive branches

There aren't enough olive trees on this planet to fix all the battles going on, but there may be enough that I can start to heal my little part of the world. As the master of understatement, that I am, there has been some shit going down. I have been part of it.

This post is not about that. This post is to those who have suffered from the collateral damage.

This group is really close. Like a family - the craziest, most dysfunctional, but also the most beautiful family I know. I love all you guys. I love your company, I love your caring, I love your thoughts and ideas and opinions. I am concerned, though, that in all of your caring, you guys have been dragged into something that you shouldn't be involved in. I don't want you guys having to take sides, or even playing the U.N. I don't want this shit to stick to you. Let the "combatants" sort this out, so there will be no recriminations in the family later on. I'm not trying to tell you all "butt out, this is none of your business!", because we're family, it is. But I'm handing out the olive branch and asking you guys to cease fire. Please don't be offended by this post, I'm just worried about the family - because this is the family I choose to have.

I hope you guys understand what I mean.

Respect to you all,
J
