Long time, no blog!
Sorry about the delay, we finally got the inter-web running at home! Yay!
(I actully finished and posted this blog on Satuday 9th Sept. As opposed to the date above!)
Anyhoot....
It was sad to leave Brisvegas and all of my friends and family - I love youse all!
It was a long drive to Melbourne! I started at 5am on Friday morning, stopped at Forbes overnight and got into Melbourne on Saturday at 4pm, nearly 1700kms! I saw an emu, lots of road-kill, lots of sheep and cattle and some space monkeys appeared around Dubbo! I really do not like caravans, well anything that insists on doing 20km/h below the speed limit. The trucks are at least doing only 10km/h under the limit - its scary watching a b-double overtake a caravan at 100km/h on a slightly bumpy road. My poor little truck is a diesel and it doesn't have much poke once it gets to 110, this makes overtaking quite fun - I need a run-up like a 747! But I managed to the hang of it by Saturday, plus the roads were long and flat and straight in that part of NSW. Feeling very tired by Saturday arvo and, surprisingly, did the sensible thing and took a few rest breaks after I got into Victoria. It's strange how it just seems greener when you cross the border - this is not Melbourne snobbery - try doing it and you'll see! Yet they have water issues down here almost on par to Brisvegas.
My furniture turned up all intact and on time! Yay again!
So what have I been doing for the last few weeks? Well basically I've been an unemployed bum! Well not really, I've explored parts of Melbvegas, spent 3 hours at the Melbourne museum and the state library, done some shopping, chillin' etc.
I've started looking for jobs, but as yet nothing has really stood out as something I want to be doing. I look at some jobs then have to remind myself, that while I have this opportunity, I should be only looking for work in the fields that I am passionate about. Patience and budgeting...
How many more Aussie icons can we lose in one week? Steve Irwin and now Peter Brock! I won't add any more cliched platitudes, other than rest well boys (and that goes also for the thousands of other unknown people who have died worldwide from war, disease, famine, etc.)
So now we here are connected again, look forward to more update from the deep south.
Not freezing, just chillin'
J.
